đ„ The Web is Evolving
Hey there!
Mads here with the Top 3 in Tech newsletter. I missed sending you the goodies last week, but thatâs only because Iâve been migrating the newsletter to a new platform called Beehiiv! đ
Donât worry though: Youâll still be getting all the cool updates, new tools and amazing resources that youâre used to. The emails will just look a bit different - but it will also be easier for you to share with your friends and family if you think they might also benefit and learn something from it â
So without further ado, letâs dive right into todayâs picks and how the Web is continuing to evolve at an amazing speed:
1. 21 Awesome Web Features youâre not using yet
The first pick for this week is a Youtube video by Fireship - whom you probably already know I love for his great content and amazing humor. In the video he breaks down 21 cool new features when building websites. Some of them are already available and have great browser support, while some are still in the early stages.
I think itâs crucial to have an understanding of the platform and what features we can start using to make the lives easier for both us, the developers, but also our users đ
Some of the big ones are container queries, the new dialog element, WebGPU and CSS nesting - but thereâs a lot more in the video, so check it all out here:
2. The Vercel AI SDK
If youâre not living under a rock, you probably know that AI is all the rage right now - and for good reason. It unlocks a lot of amazing opportunities that simply werenât possible before. But building on top of these different AI services hasnât exactly been a great experience so far.
Luckily for us, Vercel just announced a new AI SDK that make it a lot easier to integrate and create great user experiences while leveraging existing AI services. Itâs still early days, but the SDK already helps you create streaming interfaces (like text being âwritten outâ as in ChatGPT) with very minimal code. And Iâm super excited to see where they go from here as new features get added over time đ„

3. Diagram
The last tool I want to bring up is not so much for developers specifically - but it will definitely have an impact on how and what we code in the future. Itâs called Diagram, and itâs a collection of AI-powered design tools to assist designers in their workflow. It was also just recently acquired by Figma.
Iâm super curious to see how AI will continue to impact the entire website building process, and this definitely feels like one of the big changes: The ability to automagically spin up completely custom and bespoke designs, or just gather inspiration quickly. And maybe in the future these tools will get so good that it allows us developers to build amazing looking products, without relying as much on designers. Time will tell!
Small tangent: the landing page for Diagram is an absolute piece of art (maybe AI assisted? Who knows đ). So do yourself a favor by checking it out and enjoying all the amazing attention to detail in the animations:
